Credit Where It'due south Due
I rarely write reviews, merely in calorie-free of contempo events, I think it's fourth dimension to give credit to the Vanguard Group for being one of the few who did non try to suppress the mutual man from participating in the "free marketplace" during i of the greatest transferences of wealth in our history. Many other platforms participated in protecting the interests of the super wealthy, and pretending they had the interests of small retail investors in mind. It's OUR money, we know what the risks are! (at least near of us practice). Ethics and morals aside, I will say the app itself could use certain improvements, even the site itself. Equally far every bit I can tell, there's no way to buy or sell options through the app, the actual website must be used. I also wish their platform was able to refresh marketplace prices at a much faster rate, to execute better orders at any given moment. If Vanguard can add a touch of modern or advanced tools for more experienced traders, that would be the icing on the block. Overall, this is a stand up up brokerage firm. Give them your business concern, no regrets yet.
Minor comeback
Update: Simply downgraded to one star. Just went to review transaction history. Despite having selected a specific account, the app shows transactions for all accounts mingled together. For crying out loud Vanguard. Only look at the Allegiance app to meet how a brokerage app should look and function.
Vanguard but released an entirely new app. It would seem the old app, which was revamped several months ago, was irrevocably ruined. The previous app was indeed truly awful. Vanguard probably also wanted to start the new app with a clean slate of App Store reviews. After the previous app was changed, it speedily accumulated mostly one-star ratings with written reviews in which it was utterly trashed. The reviews were 1-star probably because zero-stars isn't an option. So this app is a trivial better, but it remains rather klunky, and not really much ameliorate than the app prior to the recent redesign debacle. The detailed view of holdings in a portfolio gets close to what is needed, but getting all the useful information about a holding still requires too many taps. For example: Too much screen area is taken upwards with unneeded information, like a list of accounts not currently being viewed that takes upwards 1/4 of the horizontal space when using a detailed view. Rather than take upwards that space, how most move that off the folio and add columns for information such as cost footing, which currently requires switching to an entirely different page.
Heed to all the recent 1 star reviews, the new update is very meh
I can not agree more with all the ane star reviews from around Nov to Dec 2021, this new interface they have is very lacking. Honestly the app before was kind of outdated looking, but it was very robust. If you're a daily user similar me, all the features you needed are there.
The nicest affair virtually the old version was there's ever a filter button to customize any you're looking at. Whether you're looking at the cost basis, performance returns, transactions history, you can always filter it to prove by fund(s), by account(southward), or whatever custom way yous want. Yous can do year to date, month to day, any random date range. YOU CAN'T Practice THAT IN THE NEW UPDATE.
I get they were trying to add a "modernistic" wait to the app and I applaud them for trying but it'south missing some really basic feature. I miss being able to just use the app for a lot of my research instead of having to log into the website just to exist able to filter for basic data like dividends for the year but for non-retirement accounts. If the tech team at Vanguard even cares about these reviews , please delight please either requite the customers the option to switch back to the old version while they fe out the new look or at the very least merely add dorsum the filter push button to transaction history.
